Tennis players often deal with pain from rotator cuff tendinitis of the shoulder and tennis elbow tendonitis. These tendonitis injuries can progress to partial tears of the tendon which are more painful and may not heal on their own. Ultimately the injury can cause so much pain and weakness your ability to play tennis becomes severely limited.
Regenerative injections are a medical intervention worth considering when it reaches this point. Healing of the torn tendon is facilitated by injecting substances such as high concentration dextrose or one’s own blood platelets. These regenerative procedures are called prolotherapy and platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections. Your sports medicine physician can determine if these procedures are right for you.
Injured tendons heal notoriously slow. New research shows the use of PRP is more effective than a steroid shot for the treatment of tennis elbow. Blood platelets attract healing growth factors and by injecting a patient’s own platelets at the site of a tendon injury, the body’s natural healing process is stimulated to repair the damaged tissue.
Physical therapy is usually included during this process so that you learn how to appropriately stretch, strengthen and support the injured tissues.

Seventeen-year-old Bjorn Fratangelo became the first American to win the French Open boy’s championship since John McEnroe won in 1977, and the fifth since 1947, when he defeated 14th-seeded Dominic Thiem 3-6, 6-3, 8-6.
This was Fratangelo’s first French Open, and although he entered the tournament unseeded he defeated three seeded players on the way to capturing the title.
There were a total of five breaks of serve in the final, with one break of serve deciding the first set for Dominic Thiem.
They split breaks in the second set, with Fratangelo wining the decisive third break. Both players held until 6-6 in the third set, when Fratangelo earned the only break of the set.
When Thiem hit a backhand return long on match point, Fratangelo fell to the ground in celebration. Ironically, Bjorn Fratangelo is named after his father’s favorite tennis player, the legendary Bjorn Borg of Sweden.
Who says American tennis is dead???
Congrats Bjorn!!!
Having worked at First Serve for a few months, I have personally developed many new relationships with customers that share my passion for tennis. Many of these customers have invited me to play tennis with them after work and we have all had so much fun. A few days ago, I was invited to be a subsitute in a USTA league match. I had so much fun playing tennis with them and I am hoping I will be invited back soon to substitute again.
If you find yourself wanting to play tennis after a long day at work with someone who shares the same passion for the game as you do, then feel free to contact me here or at First Serve and lets schedule a time to hit some balls.

I am seriously thinking about switching from Babolat tennis racquets to Wilson. We have recently received our shipment of the new Wilson BLX Blade series of tennis racquets and we have received many positive reviews from numerous customers. The feedback has been so amazing that I am very eager to try them out for myself. I plan to demo these new Wilson BLX racquets as soon as they are available and determine whether or not I will be switching from my old Babolat Pure Storm Tour to one of the new Wilson BLX Blade racquets.

When I first started playing tennis, my friends and coaches recommended that I go to First Serve Tennis for help with any equipment that I needed. I trusted my friends’ and coaches’ advice and came to First Serve for all of my tennis needs – needless to say, it is a 45 minute drive from my home town of Floresville, Texas. The staff was so helpful and friendly every time I walked into the store. I soon became really good friends with the staff and created relationships with other customers that shop here as well. I enjoyed being in the store so much that I found myself going there just to hang out and learn about the latest in tennis technology.
Now I work at First Serve and enjoy every day I spend here because of my fellow co-workers and supportive customers that make working here worthwhile. I look forward to helping all of you with the same enthusiasm and professionalism that was shown to me when I was a customer here. See you soon.
